How to build a monthly bookkeeping checklist
- Enter your practice, client and accounting month. The accounting month is the period being reconciled; the due date is when you need the documents.
- Replace the example requirements with the records relevant to your client. Separate bank statements, credit card statements and payroll into clear items.
- Set a realistic deadline. For a September close, you might request September statements in early October.
- Create a free preview. Sign in only when you want to view all results, download the complete CSV.
What belongs on the document list?
Start with the accounts and activities covered by your engagement. A client with employees may need a payroll register; a business without employees may not. Statements should identify the account and period. Receipts, sales reports and loan statements should be requested only where they support the work you have agreed to perform.
Receiving a file is separate from reviewing it. A practical checklist distinguishes missing, received, approved and not applicable. This downloadable list starts with “Missing”; your team can update it as documents arrive. An approved checklist does not certify that the bookkeeping itself is complete.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to register before trying this tool?
No. Enter your information and generate a preview without an account. Registration or sign-in is requested only when you choose all results, download or copy the full email. No payment card is needed for this step.
Can I reuse the checklist next month?
Yes. After signing in, download the CSV and adapt the period, deadline and requirements for the next month. For automatic recurring requests, use the separate MonthReady practice workflow.
Are my inputs saved as client records?
No. Inputs are processed on the server to create the result and are not added to a practice’s client list. Keep the tool tab open while signing in in another tab; the form stays in the original tab. Use example details when exploring the tool.
